Abstract

The principal's transformational leadership has a strategic role in improving the quality of education and teacher performance. Various studies have shown that this leadership style has a positive impact on teacher motivation, professionalism, and work commitment. This study aims to measure the level of effectiveness of the principal's transformational leadership in improving teacher performance at SMA Negeri 4 Tambusai Utara. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a survey technique on 33 teachers as a sample. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire, covering four indicators of transformational leadership: idealized influence, inspirational motivation,
intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration. The data were analyzed descriptively to obtain an average value and interpretation of effectiveness. The results of the study showed thatThe average level of effectiveness of the principal's transformational leadership in improving teacher performance is at 4.17, which is included in the high category..
The findings indicate that the principal has succeeded in creating a positive and supportive work climate, paying attention to individual teacher needs, and encouraging innovation and collaboration. In conclusion, transformational leadership that is applied consistently and empathetically makes a significant contribution to improving teacher performance. This study provides theoretical contributions to the development of educational leadership and becomes a practical reference for principals in improving the quality of teaching through a transformative and participatory leadership approach.
