Abstract

Areca nut is a palm type plant that is easy to grow and develop in Indonesia, including in the Dumai area (Riau). Areca harvesting tools are devices or instruments used to collect or harvest areca nuts from the tree. The constraints faced by areca farmers when harvesting areca nut using bamboo are also carried out by climbing areca palm trees which poses a risk of falling climbers and incur costs for areca nut farmers to pay climbing fees during the harvest process. This activity was carried out in Bukit Batrem Dumai Village with a demonstration method of introducing ergonomic areca harvesting tools, namely by delivering demonstrations on the use of the tool and trying the tool out. The purpose of this activity is to train partners to increase areca nut production by providing convenience, safety and efficiency when carrying out the harvesting process.
