Pelatihan Penulisan Artikel Ilmiah bagi Guru Madrasah Tsanawiyah dan Aliyah Bustanul Ulum di Kecamatan Dayun Kabupaten Siak

Abstract

Writing scientific articles is the demand for developing teachers’ professionalism. Yet, teachers are still challenging in writing the scientific articles, as experienced by teachers at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah and Aliyah Bustanul Ulum teachers in Dayun Siak Regency. Specifically, they were lack of knowledge and experience about writing scientific articles, low awareness of the importance of researching and producing scientific articles, lack of knowledge about scientific journals to publish their writings, and lack of references for writing the scientific articles availed in their school.  Therefore, the community service team, from the Faculty of Education and Vocational Studies, Universitas Lancang Kuning, needs to carry out training for the writing scientific articles.  Several steps of activity were given, namely: (1) recording scientific article writing activities; (2) guiding teachers to write according to their respective research topics;  (3) giving examples of scientific articles that have been published in a journal;  (4) providing several journal links as reference materials needed to update citations and reference materials for scientific articles they are currently writing;  (5) assisting teachers in terms of  providing explanations, revisions, input and others in writing scientific articles.  To complete the task, the service team gives teachers 1-2 months to  write their drafts and provide consultations, using WhatsApp platform, for feedbacks of writing the drafts.  To conclude, training on writing scientific article activities could provide conceptual knowledge, comprehension, and ability to teachers to write drafts of scientific articles and publish them.

Abstrak

Pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan permasalahan yang dihadapi guru Madrasah Tsanawiyah dan Aliyah Bustanul Ulum di Dayun Kabupaten Siak yaitu kurangnya pengetahuan dan pengalaman tentang penulisan artikel ilmiah, rendahnya kesadaran guru terhadap pentingnya meneliti dan menghasilkan artikel ilmiah, minimnya pengetahuan guru tentang jurnal-jurnal ilmiah untuk menerbitkan karya tulis mereka, dan belum adanya jurnal di sekolah mereka. Oleh karenanya, tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat dari Fakultas Pendidikan dan Vokasi, Universitas Lancang Kuning Riau perlu untuk melaksanakan kegiatan pelatihan. Pada pelaksanaan pengabdian, beberapa langkah kegiatan diberikan yaitu: (1) membuat kertas kerja pencatatan kegiatan penulisan artikel ilmiah; (2) guru-guru diberi bimbingan untuk menulis sesuai topik penelitian masing-masing; (3) guru-guru diberikan contoh artikel ilmiah yang sudah terbit di sebuah jurnal; (4) guru-guru diberikan beberapa link jurnal sebagai bahan rujukan yang diperlukan untuk memperbarui sitasi dan bahan rujukan untuk artikel ilmiah yang sedang mereka buat; (5) narasumber mendampingi peserta seperti memberikan penjelasan, revisi, masukan dan lain-lain dalam menulis artikel ilmiah. Untuk penyempurnaan tugas, tim pengabdian memberikan waktu selama 1-2 bulan kepada peserta. Konsultasi penyelesaian tugas peserta dilakukan via WhatsApp. Akhirnya, tim pengabdian menyimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah dapat memberikan pengetahuan, pemahaman dan kemampuan kepada peserta untuk menulis draft artikel ilmiah serta mempublikasikannya.
