Upaya meningkatkan kemampuan menulis Bahasa Inggris peserta didik melalui model direct instruction di SMP Negeri Bernas
Abstract
In solving the problem of the low ability of students in writing English it is necess ary to apply a learning model that is appropriate to the material being studied. One appropriate model is direct instruction. This classroom action research is carried out in class VIII.2 of SMP Negeri Bernas Pangkalan Kerinci. This research is applying in 3 (three) months starting from February to April of the even semester of Academic Year 2021/2022. The design of this classroom action research applies Kemmis & McTaggart’s model, with a number of cycles of 2 (two) cycles. Through the direct instruction model, students are able to work and pour their ideas into simple paragraphs in English. Finally, it can be said that the direct instruction model is really effective in improving students' English writing skills. The observations show that all students get grades beyond the KKM value. The increase achieved reached 6%. Even 11% of students got a score of 100. Thus applying the model of direct instruction can increase English writing ability of students in class VIII.2 of the Public Middle School Bernas Pangkalan Kerinci. The observations show that with the direct instruction model learning becomes active, creative, and the ability of students increases so that the learning atmosphere becomes more enjoyable.
