KEANEKARAGAMAN SPESIES BURUNG DI KANTONG POPULASI GAJAH GIAM SIAK KECIL

The Giam Siak Kecil Elephant Population Pocket is one of the elephant population pockets in the Riau Province region and is located directly adjacent to the Giam Siak Kecil conservation forest area. Exploratory research was carried out to observe and identify bird species around elephant population pockets in the PT forest utilization area. Riau Abadi Lestari and partners in Sebanga District and Melibur District. Field observations were carried out in 3 periods within a span of 3 months in (October, November, December) 2023 using the line transect method connecting Sebanga District and Melibur District. Observation results showed that there were 14 types of birds, namely: Pycnonotus aurigaster, Prinia familiaris, Caprimulgus concretus, Streptopelia chinensis, Rhinoplax vigil, Merops viridis, Vanellus indicus, Halcyon smyrnensis, Passeridae, Phaenicophaeus curvirostris, Dicrurus macrocercus, Leptoptilos crumenifer, Eurystomus orientalis and Micropternus brachyurus. The level of bird diversity is in the medium category, meaning that the existence of a small population of Giam Siak elephants can still be said to be good for bird habitat.
