ANALYSIS OF THE POTENTIAL OF LOCAL WISDOM OF LUBUK LARANGAN IN SUNGAI SALAK, RAMBAH SAMO DISTRICT, AS A BIOLOGY LEARNING RESOURCE

This study aims to analyze the potential of the local wisdom of Lubuk Larangan in Sungai Salak, Rambah Samo District, as a biology learning resource for Senior High School (SMA). Lubuk Larangan represents a form of community-based local wisdom in managing and conserving aquatic resources that embodies ecological, social, and cultural values. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, involving traditional leaders, village officials, and members of the Sungai Salak community as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Lubuk Larangan has strong potential to be utilized as a biology learning resource, as reflected in its environmental conservation values, biodiversity, interactions between living organisms and their environment, and customary regulations that support river ecosystem preservation. Moreover, it is relevant to several biology topics, including ecosystems, biodiversity, food chains, and environmental conservation. The utilization of Lubuk Larangan as a learning resource can provide contextual learning experiences, enhance students’ conceptual understanding, and foster environmental awareness. Therefore, the local wisdom of Lubuk Larangan in Sungai Salak is highly feasible to be implemented as a contextual and environment-based biology learning resource that supports meaningful learning.
