Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the interaction effect of growing media and nutrient concentration of AB mix on the growth and production of shallots. The research was carried out experimentally using a Divided Plot Design (RPT) in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of two factors, namely the M factor (planting medium) consisting of three growing media namely cocopeat, rockwool and zeolite. The second factor is A (AB mix concentration) consisting of three levels of AB mix 900 ppm, AB mix 1800 ppm, and AB mix 2700 ppm. There were three replications and each replication consisted of four plants and two plants were taken as samples. The research data were analyzed statistically and presented in tabular form. Further tests used Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. Single planting media gave a significant effect on all observation parameters, the best results were found in cocopeat growing media. The concentration of AB mix nutrients gave a significant effect on the number of tubers per clump, fresh weight of tubers per clump, and tuber diameter. The highest yield clumps were found in the 900 ppm AB Mix concentration treatment. The interaction of planting media with various concentrations of AB mix had a significant effect on the parameters of the number of bulbs per clump and the diameter of shallot bulbs. The highest combination yield was found at a concentration of 1800 ppm AB mix with cocopeat growing media
