Abstract

The growth and production of papaya is influenced by many factors, both external and internal factors of the papaya plant itself. These factors consist of environmental, genetic and technical agronomic factors. To promote plant growth and development, these factors are interrelated and interact with each other. To achieve high papaya production, it is expected that the three factors are always in optimal condition. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the number of fruits. with morphological characteristics of papaya plants and organs that greatly affect papaya production. This research is quantitative and correlational, data collection is carried out by survey methods, namely direct measurements and calculations of samples in the field as much as 30% of the population, carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture. The variables studied were 5 independent variables, namely (X1) plant height, (X2) stem diameter, (X3) number of leaves) (X4) leaf length and (X5) leaf width and the related variable (Y). Data analysis to see correlation Morphological characteristics with the number of fruits used multiple linear regression. To see the effect of all variables simultaneously, the F-test was carried out and to see the effect of the variables partially, the t-test was carried out. The results of the study of morphological characteristics simultaneously had a significant effect on the number of papaya fruits by using the F. test where F count 47.91 > from F table 0.05, namely 4.49. The multiple regression equation shows the correlation value R = 0.91 and the determination value R² = 0.89. The results of the t-test partially, the factors that significantly affect the number of fruit are stem girth with a value of R² = 0.89 and the number of leaves with a value of R² = 0.86
