Abstract

The ginger plant belongs to the family Zingiberaceae (finds) which is of high value both economically and efficacy. This plant has many uses such as spices, medicines, refreshing drinks, and as an essential oil ingredient. The growth and yield of the red ginger plant is hampered because the soil is Ultisol which has high acidity and has low nutrients. The dosage and timing of giving janjang ash is expected to be a solution in increasing the growth and production of the red ginger plant. The study aims to determine the influence and interaction of the timing of giving palm janjang ash and the dose of palm janjang ash which has the best influence on the growth and production of red ginger plants. The study was carried out in an experiment with a factorial Complete Randomized Design (RAL), which consisted of two factors, namely the dose of ash (D) consisting of 3 levels and the time of administration (W) consisting of 3 levels, each with 3 tests, and 2 plants as samples. The observational data were analyzed with fingerprints, and continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) test at a level of 5%. It can be concluded that the combination of the two interaction treatments has a significant effect on the length of rhizomes and the number of saplings, with a combination of 500 grams of palm ash dose / polybag and four weeks of palm ash feeding time before the plant gives the best results.
