The program was motivated by the increasing volume of household plastic waste that is not accompanied by adequate sorting and management practices, leading to environmental pollution, clogged drainage systems, and a higher risk of flooding. The activity aimed to enhance community awareness and understanding of environmentally responsible plastic waste management, reduce the volume of plastic waste through conversion into value added products, and transfer practical skills for producing paving blocks using simple and affordable technology. The program employed an educational and experimental approach through interactive lectures, discussions, material presentations, and hands on demonstrations of the paving block production process. The paving blocks were produced in dimensions of 20 × 10 × 6 cm using a mixture composition of 30 percent plastic waste, 40 percent sand, and 30 percent oil. The production stages included waste collection, sorting, cleaning, drying, shredding, heating and melting of plastic, mixing with sand, molding, compaction, and subsequent cooling and soaking to accelerate hardening. The results indicated a positive response and high level of participation, as reflected by the attendance of approximately 30 participants from various age groups and their active engagement during discussions and practical sessions. The activity successfully improved community understanding of the environmental impacts of plastic waste and encouraged more proactive attitudes toward sustainable waste management. In addition, the program strengthened collaboration between community members, village authorities, and facilitators. Overall, this community based initiative demonstrates strong potential for replication at the household and small enterprise levels as part of an integrated strategy for reducing plastic waste through sustainable and productive utilization.
