Abstract

A high diversity of bird species in an area indicates that the region has a healthy environmental condition. The natural habitat conditions support various bird species living in the Mount Merapi National Park (TNGM) area. The purpose of this research is to determine the species diversity index, feeding guild types, and conservation status of birds in the utilization zone and traditional zone. This research was conducted in May 2025 at the Musuk Cepogo Resort, Mount Merapi National Park (TNGM). The method used was fixed-radius point count along transects. The distance between counting points was 150 meters with an observation radius of 50 meters. Observations were carried out in the morning and evening, with each counting point observed for 10 minutes. There were 15 counting points in the utilization zone (total effort: 150 minutes) and 20 in the traditional zone (total effort: 200 minutes). To account for unequal sampling effort, rarefaction analysis was performed. The results showed that in the utilization zone, 28 species with 167 individuals from 20 families were found, with a moderate species diversity value (H' = 2.98), high evenness (E = 0.90), no dominant species (D = 0.07), and high species richness (R = 5.28).
