Uji Kandungan Metabolit Sekunder Pada Tanaman Simpur (Dillenia suffruticosa) Di Desa Jabiren Raya Kabupaten Pulang Pisau

Abstract

Indonesia has a high level of biodiversity potential, including medicinal plants such as simpur (Dillenia suffruticosa), which has traditionally been utilized by local communities. This study aimed to analyze the secondary metabolite content and determine the dominant compounds present in simpur plants growing in Jabiren Raya Village, Pulang Pisau Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using leaf, flower, and stem samples of simpur. Each plant part was processed into 100 g of simplicia, resulting in a total of 300 g of simplicia, and each test was conducted in triplicate. Extraction was carried out using 96% ethanol through the maceration method, followed by phytochemical screening to identify the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and steroids. The results showed that alkaloids and steroids were not detected in any of the samples, while flavonoids were detected only in some leaf samples. In contrast, saponins and tannins consistently showed positive results in leaves, flowers, and stems. These findings indicate that saponins and tannins are the dominant secondary metabolites present in simpur plants. Therefore, simpur plants growing in peat swamp ecosystems have the potential to be developed as a source of bioactive compounds for herbal medicine and biopharmaceutical products.
