Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the transition era towards Society 5.0 has significantly impacted education, including biology learning at the high school level. However, the success of AI integration in learning depends heavily on teacher readiness, encompassing aspects of knowledge, skills, infrastructure, and perceptions of the technology. This study aims to analyze the readiness of biology teachers in Rumbai to integrate AI into biology learning. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method. The study subjects consisted of eight biology teachers from three public high schools in Rumbai. Data were collected using a 60-item Likert-scale questionnaire covering four main indicators: understanding of AI, teacher preparation for using AI, readiness of facilities and infrastructure, and teacher perceptions of AI. Data were analyzed descriptively using average scores and categorized by level of readiness. The results showed that overall biology teacher readiness was in the very high category. Teachers had a good understanding and positive attitudes toward the use of AI in learning, although improvements were still needed in supporting facilities, particularly internet network stability and technology access.
