The development of information technology requires Vocational High School (SMK) students not only to use but also to understand the basics of mobile application development. This community service program aims to provide training on creating simple applications using MIT App Inventor for grade X students of SMK Kartini Batam to improve digital literacy and basic programming skills. The training was conducted on 26 May 2026 using a hands-on, block-based visual programming approach, attended by 43 grade X students under the guidance of community service students and a field supervising lecturer. Participants were guided to build a simple music player application, from interface design (Designer) to logic block arrangement (Blocks Editor). Evaluation was carried out through a pre-test and post-test of conceptual understanding, direct observation, and a satisfaction questionnaire completed by 40 respondents. The results show that the average understanding score increased significantly from 35.8 (pre-test) to 75.6 (post-test) with an average N-Gain of 0.62 (medium-to-high category), 81% of participants fully completed the application, and the overall satisfaction score reached 4.35 out of 5 (very satisfied category). The perceived benefit of the training scored highest (4.50), while platform ease of use scored lowest (4.10) yet remained in the satisfied category. This activity demonstrates that the block-based visual approach effectively improves SMK students' understanding and skills in mobile application development with no prior programming experience.
