Abstract

This study discussed the impact of  the Unilak Waste Bank on improving waste management at Lancang Kuning University. In 2021 the Unilak Waste Bank will be established which should have an impact on waste management on campus. This is a qualitative research with a phenomenological descriptive approach, in which the researcher describes the phenomenon of waste management at Lancang Kuning University after the existence of the Unilak waste bank. Data collection was carried out by, first observation, the researcher made observations throughout the campus, to the waste bank to get an overview of the distribution of garbage and landfills. Second, interviews with the management of the Unilak waste bank, waste officers, students, and university and faculty level leaders to obtain information on waste management policies. This study found that first, the waste bank has played a role and conducted waste management education starting from the initial source, sortition, to the waste bank to become other productive materials. Second, the waste in the Unilak campus environment has been distributed to waste banks to become organic fertilizer, to be made into handcrafts and resold. Third, it needs support in the form of campus regulations regarding waste management so that waste management is an integrated unit with the academic world. This study concludes that the Unilak waste bank needs significant support for waste management on the Lancang Kuning University campus.
