Abstract

Waste cooking oil known to the public based on simple interviews is cooking oil that has been used either disposably or several times. Used cooking oil is waste because its acid and peroxide numbers increase and contain carcinogenic compounds during the frying process. One of the phenomena faced in the frying process is the deterioration of oil quality after repeated use at relatively high temperatures (160-180ºC). A group of youths who are members of the collection of used cooking oil in Rumbai, they are members of Bank Jelantah (Bank Jatah). In order to maximize utilization and have economic value, we offer to Bank Jatah to make it a soap product. The soap produced can be sold in the form of souvenirs. The objectives of the service are 1) to provide education to the public about the dangers of used cooking oil waste to the environment, 2) to introduce the implementation of science and technology and training in techniques for processing used cooking oil waste into soap.
