Abstract

Electricity consumption is increasing due to the growing number of consumers using electricity. This has made PT. PLN the largest supplier of electricity. However, electricity usage often experiences power outages caused by natural disturbances such as lightning. Lightning strikes often cause power outages for consumers. To address these outages, alternative power plants are utilized to resolve the issue of electricity supply disruptions. Therefore, to address the shortage in power supply, alternative power plants are installed, with PT. PLN, as the government-owned electricity supplier, playing a key role. Laboratories are equipped with high-voltage electrical equipment that is highly sensitive. This is to ensure the reliability of laboratory equipment. Laboratory equipment is highly sensitive to disturbances, such as external disturbances caused by natural phenomena. Natural phenomena such as lightning strikes can cause an increase in voltage and current within the electrical system. Based on the results and discussion, the voltage drop was found to be 58.2 volts at the Electrical Engineering Laboratory Building of the Faculty of Engineering. The touch voltage with a body weight of 70 kg was found to be 493.4 volts, and with a body weight of 50 kg, it was found to be 364.6 volts. The step voltage with a body weight of 70 kg was found to be 1299. 2 volts, and 962.8 volts for a body weight of 50 kg at the Electrical Engineering Laboratory Building of the Faculty of Engineering. The grounding system was designed using three electrodes with a resistance value of 3.79 ohms, meeting the PUIL 2011 standard of < 5 ohms
