Jernang, or dragon’s blood rattan, is a high-value non-timber forest product, but its productivity in Seko Besar Village remains low because of limited cultivation management and the underutilization of leaves, petioles, and fruit stalk waste. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen farmers’ capacity to utilize jernang waste as a natural ethylene smoke source through a modified smoke drum technology to support flowering and fruiting. The program was conducted participatively through baseline assessment, village socialization, technical training, field implementation of smudging on jernang clumps, and monitoring–evaluation. Data were collected through field observation, farmer interviews, documentation, and plant phenological records. After two months of smudging, treated clumps showed greener leaves, more visible reproductive structures, faster fruit development, and lower fruit drop than control clumps. The program also improved farmers’ knowledge, technical skills, group participation, and perception of jernang waste as a productive local resource.
