ENGLISH TRAINING THROUGH IDIOMATIC EXPRESSION FOR STUDENTS OF SMK MUHAMMADIYAH

This Community Service activity aims to improve students' ability to understand and use idioms in English, while helping them master a more communicative and contextual language, especially in everyday conversations. The partners of the activity were students of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 from various majors who had an interest in developing English language skills. The training method includes the delivery of interactive materials on common idioms, conversation simulations, language games, quizzes, and group discussions. The results of the pre-test and post-test evaluations showed a significant improvement in all indicators, where the majority of participants were able to comprehensively understand idioms, identify and distinguish idioms from literal expressions, and began to dare to use them in daily communication. This training has proven to be effective not only in improving comprehension and practical skills, but also in building students' motivation and confidence, so that idiomatic expressions can become an integral part of slang English communication that is more expressive, natural, and relevant to the interaction needs of adolescents.
