PERBANDINGAN TEORI PERILAKU PENCARIAN INFORMASI MENURUT ELLIS, WILSON DAN KUHLTHAU

Setiap pemustaka memiliki perilaku pencarian informasi yang berbeda sesuai dengan kebutuhannya. Perilaku pencarian informasi mengacu kepada bagaimana seseorang mencari dan meramu suatu informasi yang diperolehnya. Setidaknya terdapat tiga teori perilaku pencarian informasi, yaitu teori-teori yang dikemukakan oleh Ellis, Wilson dan Kuhlthau. Ketiga tokoh tersebut mencetuskan teori yang dapat digunakan untuk mengkaji perilaku pencarian informasi pemustaka. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan ketia teori tersebut. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa terdapat enam perbedaan dari teori Ellis, Wilson dan Kuhlthau dan satu kesamaan antara teori Ellis dan Wilson, tetapi masih terbuka kemungkinan ditemukan perbedaan lainnya.

Abstract
Ellis, Wilson and Kuhlthau are figures in information study who propose their theories about information seeking behavior. Their theories are applied as a guide in doing study regards users in library. Users studies is needed to know users’ characteristics so that library management would arrange suitable collection and provide suitable facility for the users. Information seeking theory according to Ellis, Wilson and Kuhlthau are different but connected. There are six differences between those theories but one similarity nonetheles there is possibility of other differences among their theories.
