Abstract

Sustainable development has become a strategic issue in the global construction industry, including Indonesia. This study aims to identify and prioritize the most relevant sustainability indicators in building construction projects based on the perceptions of construction professionals. The research method consists of three stages: a literature review to identify initial indicators, a questionnaire using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to determine indicator priorities, and a final stage interview with contractors to assess the applicability of the indicators in practice.  The literature review identified 17 indicators grouped into five dimensions: environmental, social, economic, management/lean, and unclassified/culture. The AHP results prioritized the dimensions as follows: environmental, social, economic, management/lean, and culture. The validation results indicated that social and management indicators such as safety, time and resource efficiency, and sustainability monitoring were the easiest to implement. The novelty of this research lies in the development  a sustainable action framework for Indonesian contractors through the integration of AHP and field validation. This study concludes that indicators directly related to efficiency and safety are easier to implement, while policy support and financial incentives were recommended to enhance the implementation of environmental and economic sustainability indicators in future construction projects.
