Authorship Criteria and Contributorship Policy

Dinamisia: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, accountability, and integrity in determining authorship and recognizing individual contributions to scholarly publications.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to Dinamisia, particularly those reporting community service programs, community empowerment initiatives, educational interventions, technology transfer, applied research, and other community engagement activities.

The policy is informed by the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). It complements the journal's existing Publication Ethics and Author Guidelines.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify as an author of a manuscript submitted to Dinamisia, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Intellectual Contribution. Making a significant contribution to the conception, design, implementation, evaluation, or interpretation of community service activities, including the development of community empowerment programs, educational interventions, technology applications, or analysis of program outcomes.

  2. Manuscript Preparation or Critical Revision. Participating in drafting the manuscript or critically revising its important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval. Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.

  4. Accountability. Accepting responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, originality, and ethical conduct of the reported work and cooperating in resolving questions regarding its content.

All four criteria must be fulfilled to qualify for authorship.

Individuals who contribute to community service activities but do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section rather than included as authors.

Contributors who have made substantial initial contributions should be given a reasonable opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation, review, and final approval.

2. Author Contributions: CRediT Taxonomy

Dinamisia requires authors to provide a transparent Author Contributions statement describing the specific roles performed by each author.

The journal adopts the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), consisting of 14 recognized contribution roles:

  1. Conceptualization: Formulating the objectives, ideas, and overall framework of the community service program.

  2. Data Curation: Organizing, managing, and maintaining data obtained from community service activities.

  3. Formal Analysis: Applying analytical techniques to evaluate program outcomes, participant responses, or community impacts.

  4. Funding Acquisition: Obtaining financial support for the community service program or related scholarly activities.

  5. Investigation: Conducting field activities, community assessments, interviews, observations, surveys, training, or other implementation activities.

  6. Methodology: Designing methods, procedures, interventions, or evaluation frameworks for community engagement programs.

  7. Project Administration: Coordinating and managing the implementation, scheduling, documentation, and administration of community service activities.

  8. Resources: Providing materials, instruments, facilities, technological tools, or other resources necessary for the program.

  9. Software: Developing or implementing software, digital platforms, or technological applications used in community service activities.

  10. Supervision: Providing academic, scientific, or methodological oversight throughout the program and manuscript development.

  11. Validation: Verifying the reliability, accuracy, and consistency of methods, findings, and reported program outcomes.

  12. Visualization: Preparing figures, diagrams, tables, photographs, infographics, or other visual representations of activities and findings.

  13. Writing – Original Draft: Preparing the initial version of the manuscript.

  14. Writing – Review & Editing: Critically reviewing, revising, and improving the manuscript before submission or publication.

Authors may perform more than one role, and individual roles may be shared among multiple contributors.

Only roles that accurately reflect actual contributions should be reported. CRediT roles provide transparency regarding contributions but do not independently establish eligibility for authorship.

3. Authorship Order and Equal Contributions

The order of authors must be determined through mutual agreement among all authors before manuscript submission.

The first author is generally expected to have made a substantial contribution to the intellectual development of the work and manuscript preparation.

Authors who have contributed equally may indicate equal contributions in an appropriate statement, subject to editorial approval.

Authorship order must not be determined solely by academic rank, institutional position, financial contribution, or administrative authority.

All authors must approve the final authorship order before submission.

4. Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial office throughout submission, peer review, publication, and post-publication communication.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that all listed authors satisfy the journal's authorship criteria.

  2. Confirming that no eligible contributors have been omitted and no inappropriate authors have been included.

  3. Obtaining approval from all co-authors for the manuscript and authorship order.

  4. Ensuring that all authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript.

  5. Coordinating manuscript revisions and responses to reviewers.

  6. Providing accurate author affiliations, email addresses, and relevant declarations.

  7. Disclosing funding sources, conflicts of interest, and relevant ethical considerations.

  8. Communicating editorial decisions and publication-related information to all co-authors.

  9. Cooperating with the editorial office in addressing authorship concerns, corrections, or other post-publication issues.

The corresponding author must ensure that the manuscript accurately represents the community service activities conducted and that all reported outcomes are supported by appropriate evidence.

5. Contributors and Acknowledgments

Individuals or organizations that contribute to community service programs without meeting all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

Such contributions may include:

  • Community partners and participating institutions.

  • Local government agencies and community organizations.

  • Students assisting with field implementation or documentation.

  • Technical and administrative personnel.

  • Community facilitators and volunteers.

  • Financial sponsors and institutional supporters.

Participation in a community service activity, provision of funding, administrative supervision, or institutional leadership alone does not justify authorship.

Acknowledgments must accurately describe the contributions provided. Authors should obtain permission from individuals whose names are included in the Acknowledgments section.

6. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and approval from all affected authors.

Requests should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief through the corresponding author and must include:

  1. The manuscript title and submission identification number.

  2. The reason for the proposed authorship change.

  3. A revised Author Contributions statement, where applicable.

  4. Written agreement from all existing authors and any author being added or removed.

The editorial office may suspend manuscript processing until the request has been satisfactorily resolved.

Changes to authorship after publication will be considered only when justified and supported by appropriate documentation. Where necessary, a formal correction notice may be issued.

7. Authorship Misconduct and Disputes

Dinamisia does not tolerate unethical authorship practices, including:

Gift or Honorary Authorship: Including individuals who have not made qualifying contributions to the manuscript.

Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who meet the authorship criteria or concealing substantial contributions to manuscript preparation.

Coercive Authorship: Including an individual as an author because of institutional authority, academic position, or other forms of pressure rather than genuine scholarly contribution.

Misrepresentation of Contributions: Providing inaccurate or misleading statements regarding individual author contributions.

Unauthorized Authorship Changes: Adding, removing, or changing the order of authors without the knowledge and agreement of the affected authors.

Any authorship concerns or disputes should be reported to the editorial office with supporting evidence.

The editorial team may request contribution statements, correspondence, written agreements, or other relevant documentation.

Where a dispute cannot be resolved through editorial communication, the journal may refer the matter to the authors' affiliated institutions for investigation, in accordance with applicable publication ethics principles and COPE guidance.

The editorial office may postpone publication while a serious authorship dispute remains unresolved.

8. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

Generative artificial intelligence systems, including large language models and AI-assisted writing tools, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the originality, accuracy, ethical integrity, and accountability of scholarly work.

Authors must disclose substantive use of AI tools in manuscript preparation, data analysis, image generation, or other relevant scholarly activities.

The disclosure should identify the AI tool used, its purpose, and the extent of human verification.

AI-assisted analysis or content generation that forms part of the study methodology must be appropriately described in the Methods section. Substantive AI assistance in manuscript preparation should be disclosed in an appropriate declaration.

Authors remain fully responsible for all AI-assisted content, including the accuracy of references, authenticity of data, validity of analyses, and originality of the manuscript.

The use of AI tools must not compromise the confidentiality of community participants, personal data, unpublished manuscripts, or other sensitive information.

9. Authorship Declaration

By submitting a manuscript to Dinamisia: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat, the corresponding author confirms on behalf of all listed authors that:

  1. All authors meet the established authorship criteria.

  2. Each author's contribution has been accurately represented.

  3. All authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

  4. The authorship order has been mutually agreed upon.

  5. No eligible authors have been omitted and no inappropriate authors have been included.

  6. All relevant funding sources, conflicts of interest, and ethical considerations have been disclosed.

  7. The manuscript is original and complies with the journal's publication ethics policies.

  8. All authors accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published work.

The editorial office reserves the right to request additional authorship documentation whenever necessary to verify compliance with this policy.
