Integrated Occupational Safety, Sanitation, Nutrition, and Disaster Preparedness for Fishing Families

Fishing families in Likupang II face occupational hazards, sanitation gaps, nutritional challenges, and disaster risks. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen family capacities through integrated empowerment. Activities included education, fish-processing practice, occupational safety training, basic life support and disaster simulations, community volunteer development, and sanitation facility construction. Complete paired assessments were available for 28 fish-processing participants, 33 occupational safety and sanitation participants, and 35 emergency preparedness participants. Mean scores increased from 53.57 to 85.36, 11.70 to 24.42, and 3.20 to 18.00, respectively. Outputs comprised 40 safety equipment sets, three sanitary latrines, and two waste collection facilities; 40 participants were involved in integrated volunteer activities. This family-based approach improved short-term learning outcomes and access to supporting facilities. Sustained practices and health outcomes require follow-up evaluation.
