Abstract

The limitation of physical devices such as microcontrollers and sensors poses a challenge for SMK Negeri 1 Minas in providing optimal practical experience for students in the Computer and Network Engineering major. Therefore, this virtual training aims to enhance students’ understanding of microcontroller design and programming using Tinkercad Circuits as a simulation-based learning solution. This activity was conducted in one day with a combination of theoretical sessions, practical applications, and the completion of a simple IoT-based simulation project. Evaluation was carried out through pre- and post-training questionnaires to measure students' comprehension improvement. The results indicate that more than 85% of participants successfully completed the simulation project, showing increased understanding in fundamental Arduino programming, Tinkercad usage, and microcontroller-based system design. Additionally, simulation-based learning methods proved effective in addressing the challenge of limited physical devices while providing flexibility in learning. However, challenges such as unstable internet access and variations in students' comprehension levels need to be addressed in future training. Therefore, integrating this material into the curriculum and conducting advanced training sessions is highly recommended to prepare students for technological advancements in the industry.
