Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian Volume 19 Issue 1 (2022) presents original research articles that highlight the integration of digital technology, bioenergy development, plant biotechnology, botanical-based inputs, and socio-economic analysis within agricultural and fisheries systems. The articles in this issue reflect the growing application of interdisciplinary approaches to address productivity, sustainability, and livelihood challenges in tropical agriculture. Advances in digital agriculture are represented through a study on the design of a disease identification system for oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) leaves using deep learning convolutional neural networks. This article demonstrates the potential of artificial intelligence to support early disease detection and decision-making in plantation management. Energy innovation is addressed in a study on the production of bio-briquettes from biochar pyrolysis products of oil palm shells, highlighting the utilization of agricultural waste as an alternative renewable energy source.

Plant growth and development under controlled and applied conditions are examined in two articles. One study evaluates the use of potato boiling water in Murashige–Skoog media to enhance the in vitro growth of protocorms of Grammatophyllum stapeliiflorum, providing insights into low-cost alternatives for plant tissue culture. Another article investigates the application of tapak dara (Catharanthus roseus L.) leaf extract on the growth and morphological characteristics of leek (Allium fistulosum L.), contributing to the development of plant-based growth regulators in sustainable crop production. Socio-economic dimensions of primary livelihoods are explored through a case study analyzing the contribution of alternative income sources to household earnings among fishing communities in Bagan Hulu, Rokan Hilir Regency, Indonesia. This article highlights livelihood diversification as a strategy to enhance household resilience in coastal areas.

Together, the articles in Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian Volume 19 Issue 1 (2022) illustrate the convergence of technological innovation, biological experimentation, resource utilization, and socio-economic analysis in addressing contemporary challenges in agriculture and fisheries.
