Focus and Scope

Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian (JIP) publishes peer-reviewed articles addressing advances in agriculture and the sustainable use of agricultural and land resources across diverse agroecosystem contexts. While the journal places particular emphasis on tropical and smallholder agricultural systems—reflecting their importance for global food security and sustainability—submissions with broader regional and international relevance are equally welcomed.

The journal publishes original research and critical reviews related to strategic and applied studies in agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, and closely related applied sciences. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, crop and animal physiology, modelling of agricultural systems, agronomy and husbandry, animal welfare and behaviour, soil science, plant and animal product quality, plant and animal nutrition, agricultural engineering solutions, decision support systems, land use planning, environmental impacts of agriculture and forestry, climate change impacts, rural biodiversity, experimental design and statistical analysis, and the application of advanced analytical and research methods, including genetic diversity and molecular biology approaches.

To ensure scientific rigor and meaningful contributions to knowledge, starting from 1 January 2026, manuscripts that rely solely on descriptive agronomic observation data (e.g. growth, yield, or phenological measurements) without adequate experimental design, statistical analysis, mechanistic interpretation, or supporting analytical evidence will not be considered for publication.

In addition to original research articles, the journal publishes reviews, short communications, letters to the editor, and invited perspectives on emerging issues in agricultural and applied sciences. Occasional themed issues may be organized to address topics of contemporary relevance.
