The Journal Ilmiah Pertanian (JIP) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes original research articles on agricultural advances for global dissemination. It serves as a platform for researchers and academics to share their findings and innovative approaches in agriculture. In this issue, we published nine articles, featuring research from authors in Indonesia and Germany. The articles explore a range of topics, including the combinatory effects of organic fertilizers and biochar on melon growth, and the impact of cutting types and plant growth regulators on the propagation of red star begonia. Another study optimizes winged-bean meal through different heating methods as a viable alternative for plant-based aquafeed. Research on ginger investigates the morphological and biochemical identification of bacterial strains causing wilt disease. Soil morphological characteristics in the volcanic toposequence zone at Tangkuban Parahu volcano are also examined. The issue includes a study on optimizing water balance for strategic planting patterns in paddy cultivation in rainfed regions and another on phytoremediation of iron-contaminated soils using humic acid and hyperaccumulator grasses. The efficacy of neem and basil leaf extracts in controlling whitefly infestations and enhancing the yield of curly red chili peppers is also explored. Finally, an article characterizes the agronomic, morphological, nutritional, and phytochemical traits of local sorghum in Indonesia. We hope this issue provides valuable insights and inspires further research in agricultural science.
